A Note from Our Founder
On Motherhood and Creativity
Nine years ago, I became a mom for the first time, and had our second child 3 years later. My babies have grown up in and alongside this business—literally: I launched this line at NSS with a 4 month old on my back—and along the way, they have become my biggest artistic influence. Motherhood has profoundly influenced my creative perspective. In the years since kids entered my picture, I've noticed my artistic focus shifting towards play. I started making things that make them (and me) smile. I started using a LOT more color. And ultimately I realized that, in a broader sense, my goal and mission had become spreading color, laughter, and joy wherever I can. And it turns out I'm onto something, because many of my most popular designs over the years have been inspired by my kids or made with them in mind.
Being a mom has helped me to approach my work, my team, and my business with patience, empathy, and intention. More than anything, being a mom has made me hyper-aware of the how fast time flies.
Cheers to my fellow moms (and parents). We make the world go round :)
