We pulled out all stops for the invitations to Lauren and Ben’s hip NYC wedding at the Foundry in Long Island City, Queens.
Our direction was “modern, black, white and gold,” so we paired condensed sans serif type with hand-brushed patterns and illustrations. For the invitation and map card, we combined letterpress printing with gold foil stamping onto double-thick Savoy in bright white. The RSVP became a true postcard, digitally printed onto glossy stock to stand apart from the letterpress pieces; this also allowed the clients to create two different cards, for recipients invited to different pre- and post-wedding events. We had a little fun with the map card, including tiny illustrations of the weekend’s events.
Somewhere along the way, we had this idea to create a patterned wrap enclosed in a translucent envelope in lieu of a simple envelope with a liner, which gave the overall package a more sleek and modern feel. Inspired by our brush pattern cards, we created a diagonal wrap of mixed hand-painted patterns, folded diagonally around the cards.

The day-of paper goods included a plethora of items as well. We created menus, programs, die cut escort cards, custom placemats, and used their “logo” on things like tote bags and matchbooks.
